International Graduate Scheme

Points-based system

alternative text

In 2009, the UK introduced a points-based system (PBS) for immigration. Tier 4 of this system affects international students from outside the EEA/EU who are applying for entry clearance/a student visa to come to the UK, or those who are already studying in the UK and applying for a new course.

Under the points-based system, applicants must be sponsored by an institution that is registered as an official sponsor.

If you are a student at The University of Manchester and would like to talk to someone about your immigration status you are advised to

Student profile

Alternative title.

I have chosen Manchester above other similarly ranked institutions for its ‘big city lifestyle’ and relatively low cost of living, compared to London. There is always something to see and do in Manchester.
