Accreditation
The programme is accredited by the following organisations.
Project Management Institute PMI
In the early spring (2011) PM PDP became accredited by PMI. Accreditation was sought from PMI in order to validate the quality of PM PDP in the eyes of the leading Global accreditation Centre for the project management profession. The process of accreditation was of extreme value in relation to continuous improvement of the programme.
APM
APM Academic Accreditation is designed to help delegates and professionals choose the best academic education in support of their professional project management career. PM PDP became APM accredited in 2009 identifying that the course and modules are aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge 5th edition.
APM Accreditation helps the programme stand out as an exemplar in the development of project management professionals. It provides assurances to the consortium and delegates encouraging the best project managers to study on the programme.
Engineering Construction Industry Training Board ECITB
The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is dedicated to training and qualifying the engineering construction industry workforce across hundreds of skills and disciplines to ensure the continued success and competitiveness of the UK industry.
The ECITB represents the engineering construction industry at the highest levels, working with the Government and other industry, trade and academic organisations (i.e. The University of Manchester and the PM PDP programme) to build the workforce skills and knowledge necessary to secure the future of UK engineering construction.
ECITB Organisations
Organisations ECITB work with include: companies such as such as Aker Kvaerner, Foster Wheeler, AMEC and Alstom; the Sector Skills Councils, Cogent (the Sector Skills Council for chemicals, pharmaceuticals, nuclear, oil & gas, petroleum & polymers); EU Skills (the Sector Skills Council for the gas, power, waste management and water industries); and The National Skills Academy for Nuclear; OPITO (the UK Oil and Gas Academy); the professional engineering institutions and universities.
How ECITB works for PM PDP
The ECITB is a registered charity, funded by income raised from engineering construction companies. The ECITB works closely with the industry and the Government, and is employer led, managed by a Main Board, supported by a Management Board and 9 Regions, each with its own chair and account management team.
Fundamentally, employees of some of the ECITB companies are able to get sponsorship allowing them to study on the PM PDP programme. Employees are encouraged to continue their personal professional development by completing an MSc with the University fully supported and funded through ECITB.
ECITB Benefits
Since the PM PDP programme became ECITB accredited in January 2008 many more companies (ex. Siemens, FairPort, ODE, TEi Ltd, PROWELD Engineering Services Ltd and more) have been able to send staff on the programme to gain a higher qualification. ECITB accreditation of the PM PDP programme has been of great benefit opening up opportunities that aid both the student and his or her employer.
