How we teach
Plenary & Midterm Sessions
- Plenary session
The initial plenary session (for those delegates starting the programme) acts as a course induction with lectures and workshops. This includes a session for Module 1 (and all other modules for continuing delegates) to discuss the module content. Delegates receive the workbook, assignment, reading pack and textbook for the module(s) they've chosen (initially for module 1). - Midterm 1
Delegates come back to the University for a one day session (midterm 1) to help with their coursework submission for the module/s they have chosen. - Midterm 2
Following this there is another one day midterm session (midterm 2) to assist with exam revision and preparation prior to the following plenary and examination event. For those modules assessed using coursework only the midterm 2 session again focuses on the coursework submission.
Contact Days
The mandatory plenary
The mandatory plenary begins the cycle again for subsequent modules. Examinations are taken and introduction to new modules and other inputs are received. This means that in the first 6 months a total of 5 days contact is necessary (3 plenary and 2 midterm). Subsequent cycles involve 4 days (2 plenary and 2 midterm).
During the rest of the study periods contact is maintained by a combination of email, telephone and by using the virtual learning environment (Blackboard 9).
