In the same year, I was awarded a full PhD scholarship in mechanical engineering by the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) of The University of Manchester. I am currently on my second year doctorate programme working in Plasma Actuators Development

Before joining the University of Manchester, I worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Sustainable Urban & Regional Futures (SURF), University of Salford, where I was involved in the European Commission Framework 7 Changing Behaviour project. Through my work at SURF, I have developed extensive research experience, which includes critical review and analysis of climate change policy and case studies of energy efficiency initiatives. Examples of my research include the Innovation Involving Hydrogen Energy, Urban Ecological Security, UK Energy Efficiency Intermediary Activity, Cities and Climate Change, and political economy of knowledge production.

PhD in Mechanical Engineering
I am currently studying a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester, working in the field of laser material processing since 2009. My research deals with the modelling of the laser cladding process. I received an MSc (Eng) in Product Design from the University of Liverpool, UK. During this time, I acquired my interest for the fascinating processes of rapid manufacturing. I obtained my first degree in Industrial Engineering (distinction awarded) from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aguascalientes, Mexico. Before moving to the UK, I worked as a mould designer for Roi Castings S.A., an iron-castings company, and as a mechanical designer for Moto Diesel Mexicana S.A., an automotive company. Previously, I worked as production trainee at Texas Instruments (now Sensata Technologies S de RL).

I am a engineering doctoral (EngD) candidate in the school of Mechanical, Civil and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester. My research program is co-funded by EPSRC (UK government) and Ove Arup and Partners. I received my B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the University of Leeds and my M.Sc. degree in Applied Numerical Computing from the University of Manchester. Knowledge gained during my time studying numerical computing has influenced my current doctoral work. I am a graduate member of ICE and working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the ICE.

In 2007, I completed MSc in Advance Manufacturing Technology and System Management from the University of Manchester obtaining a first position. I continued my doctoral research in the promising field of micro mechanical machining which is aligned to my professional experience.

Experimental and numerical simulation approaches have been carried out to investigate the significance of turbulence (turbulence intensity, length scale and anisotropy) on the wind turbine output. The aim was to provide an adequate insight into the turbulence flow and its effect on the wind turbine.

I completed my first degree in Mechanical Engineering in Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST, Iran 1998). I then worked for a year as a junior design engineer, designing energy test rooms (Ashena Tech. Co. 1998-1999). Following that I worked in a Manufacturing Company (Iran Radiator Co. 2000-2002) as a senior design engineer for a year and then was appointed as the head of design department focusing on designing automotive radiators and industrial heat exchangers. I moved to UK in 2002 where I completed a MSc. course in Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Systems Management (UMIST, 2002-2003, Distinction dissertation on Thin film metal oxide coating on glass). I continued the research on laser manufacturing as an Academic Visitor (UMIST, 2003-2004) and then completed a PhD in Biomechanics (The University of Manchester, 2004-2009) working on Laser surface texturing and coating of Ti-6Al-4Vfor improving biocompatibility. I started working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Biomedicine, University of Manchester in January 2010 where I am working on Improving the Biocompatibility of Heart Stents in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson.
