External funding
Below is a list of organisations which provide support to students of specific nationalities or gender. If any further information is required such as eligibility and criteria details please contact the organisation directly.
- UK-India Education and Research Initiative - UKREI. This is a major government funding initiative supported by the DfES, FCO and OSI. The aim is to provide approximately £12 million in funding over the next five years to promote sustainable links between the UK and India in Education and Research. As part of the funds made available for Higher Education and Research, the UKIERI make a number Research Fellowships for overseas students. In 2006/07 ten PhD studentships were available, predominantly for science and engineering candidates. Further details about the UKIERI initiative are available from http://www.ukieri.org/
- British Chevening Scholarships - These scholarships are prestigious awards funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office given to students for study in any subject area but preference is given to postgraduate students or those with an established career www.chevening.com
- Commonwealth Scholarships - Postgraduate scholarships for Commonwealth students administered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) www.acu.ac.uk
- Fulbright student Scholarships - Applicants from the United States can apply to the US-UK Fulbright Commission for a Fulbright Award www.fulbright.co.uk
- British Marshall Scholarships - Scholarships for high calibers graduate students from the US to study in the UK www.marshallscholarship.org
- Henry Lester Trust - Awards given to Chinese (including Hong Kong) studying for a PhD www.gbcc.org.uk
- British Federation of Women Graduate - Scholarships available for postgraduate research women www.bcfgrants.org.uk
- Croucher Foundation - Scholarships to Hong Kong born students www.croucher.org.hk
