PhD Scholarship - overseas

Below is a list of PhD Scholarships available for Overseas students. All of these are internal scholarships, administered by the School. Applications will be considered under all of the following categories for which the applicant is qualified. Applicants will only be considered for a School Scholarship if they have completed the standard University of Manchester postgraduate online application process. Award holders will be selected on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. The expected level of competition for these awards means that it is probable that successful nominees will hold, or expect to achieve, at least the equivalent of a UK first class honours degree in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics, or a closely related technical subject, before the programme of research is due to begin.
Application Procedure
In addition to the University of Manchester on-line application candidates should also submit the following:
- Scholarship Coversheet
- Research Proposal. If you are applying to do a research degree, we require a research title and proposal to enable us to identify a suitable supervisor. The research proposal should include a brief description of what you would like to study and can be as broad or as specific as you like. We suggest you consider the following questions:
- Justification for the proposed research (why is it important to do this?)
- Objectives of the research (what do you hope to find out by doing it?)
- Methodology (how do you intend to go about doing the research project?)
