Studentships

alternative text

Studentships normally cover full payment of tuition fees plus a stipend for living expenses. The amount awarded is specified for each individual project. Studentships are normally available to UK/EU nationals or UK permanent residence holders. Some studentships do allow overseas students to apply however they will not be entitled to the full award.

If you are interested in applying for a studentship we suggest you read the criteria very carefully as unsolicited applications will not be considered.

PhD studentships

We have a number of studentships which relate to specific projects or research areas in the School. These awards are EPSRC funded and normally only available to UK/EU applicants or others with UK permanent residence.

Some studentships do allow overseas students to apply however students will not be entitled to the full award. Overseas students interested in applying should read the criteria very carefully. If it does not state that overseas students are able to apply, overseas applications will not be considered.

We are pleased to offer a number of PhD Studentships:

  • Resilience of future electricity networks - Starting date: 1st March 2012
The resilience of the UK's electricity energy network is being challenged on three fronts: (i) policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions will alter substantially the existing mix of electricity generation; (ii) decarbonisation of the 'energy' system will be likely to involve considerable shift of previously non-electric energy demand onto the electricity network and (iii) not only will the expected mean changes in climate alter electricity demand and the performance of the electricity infrastructure, but increased severity and frequency of extreme weather events will impact on the electrical network and distribution systems. Further details are available from Professor K Anderson
  •

If you are interested in applying for any of the above projects please forward your CV to the supervisor directly and complete an Application form available from Michelle Ringwood.
