On Wednesday, 21st February 2007 the postgraduate research students in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering hosted their second highly successful Research Showcase Day.
Postgraduate Research Conferences    2011 | 2010 | 2009 | 2008 | 2007

The event took place in the Renold Building on the Sackville Street Campus and it provided an opportunity for the School’s 300 research students to present and expose their research to their colleagues, academic staff and visiting industrial guests.

The event was a massive success with over 150 people attending, 54 students giving presentations and 66 students displaying posters. The posters and presentations reflected the diverse research being undertaken in the School including aerospace engineering, energy, environment and climate change, extreme loading and design, nuclear engineering and manufacturing and laser processing.

The event was efficiently organised by a Committee of PGR research students, Paul Wilde as Chairman, Jonathan Chippendall, Ian Cunningham, James Myers and Karl Jamieson with the support of Dr Caesar Merrifield (Graduate Chairman) and the School Administrators. On the event itself Postdoctoral Research Assistants volunteered their time to Chair and judge the presentation sessions awarding first, second and third prizes to the top students. Prize winners included Rizwan Choudhry, Kenneth Gill and Amr ElBanhawy for their exceptional presentations and also Adrian Covill, Jifeng Yuan, Abdelhamid Naid and Shakeel Safdar for their outstanding posters.
