Research in Thermal Power and Fluid Engineering

alternative text

The academics that support the TPFE course, either through teaching, or through supervision of Dissertation Projects, carry out research in wide range of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer topics.

The links below provide further information on the background of the group and show examples of recent research projects.

The study of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics has a long tradition in Manchester, starting with Osborne Reynolds, in the 1890's.

Flow sequences

The increasing use of state-of-the-art experimental techiques and also the increasing emphasis on the computation of unsteady flow phenomena, are generating many highly informatice moving flow sequences. Examples of flow animations resulted from recent computational and experimental research projects.
