Causes of collapse

The occurrence of wall collapses is generally due to the following factors: 1) the surrounding structure placing eccentric or lateral loads on the walls; 2) the large thermal bowing of some tall walls not fixed at the top; or 3) the large vertical deflection or collapse of supporting members to the walls.
