Meet some of our graduates from 2011

Dr Wolfgang Anton Hahn

Dr Wolfgang Anton Hahn
Dr Wolfgang Anton Hahn is Head of Engineering for Coal , Gas and Renewable Generation at EDF Energy, Barnwood, UK.

The course laid down the foundations and first principles of what I regard to be the essential knowledge needed for every Engineer, Manager and Senior Leader for implementation and benchmarking required within each business. The course helped me to develop my skills further in areas of plant condition monitoring, root cause analysis, lifecycle management as well as best practice in asset management to mention a few.  The direct benefits of this MSc course to the business delivered better decision making capability, improved plant reliability and improved awareness in areas of risk management, safety, process safety and lifecycle engineering. This course was taught by leading academic professionals with industrial background and exposure covering a wide range of requirements, from relatively simple practical examples up to the most in depth detailed analyses on complex industrial problems. I can recommend this course to any individual wanting to improve their contribution to business or industry to the next level in excellence.

Adrian D. Nembhard

Adrian D. Nembhard
Adrian D. Nembhard works in the alumina refiding industry in Jamica

Five years of experience in the demanding Alumina Refining industry in Jamaica, sparked my interest in the field of Reliability Engineering and Industrial Asset Management. That interest was furthered with the taught MSc in Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management here at The University of Manchester. My background is in the field of Mechanical Engineering; with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine. I was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship to read for this MSc programme full time and now intend to perpetuate work started in my MSc dissertation as PhD research.

My desire to take my career even one step higher is motivated by the support I received from my dissertation supervisors (joint project). I believe this programme has some of the most supportive supervisors I have ever encountered or heard about. In addition to that, courses offered in The Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management programme has an ideal balance of theoretical and practical application of Maintenance Engineering best practices. It has been a fun and fulfilling year, and I sincerely recommend this course to anyone with an interest in the field.
