Winning team at IT FLIES 2014 USA Competition

The team of eight MACE students came first in the IT FLIES Competition in Dayton, Ohio.

The IT FLIES competition is a unique aircraft design and handling competition sponsored by Merlin flight simulation group. The teams are judged on their design as well as on how well their aircraft design flies.

Tom Bartley who studied Civil Engineering at the School of MACE was a finalist for the New Civil Engineering magazine’s “Graduate of the Year” award.

Tom Bartley graduate with a BEng in Civil Engineering in 2012 after completing his third year dissertation about “Project Success in Regional Airports”. He is currently on an EngD program with Bristol University and Parsons Brinckerhoff. He was nominated as one of the “cream of the crop” of civil engineering graduates and was described as “passionate, articulate and dedicated” as well as an excellent ambassador for the profession.

He is also active with Engineers without Borders.
