2017 Summer Graduation
Tuesday 11th July was summer graduation for the School of MACE, with ceremonies for our undergraduate and postgraduate research programmes.
Merlin Flight Simulation Group’s IT FLIES UK is an annual competition held to test the skills of University teams in the areas of aircraft design and handling. The 2017 competition was held for the first time in Manchester at the School of MACE, and hosted teams from the UK, USA and the Netherlands.
On Wednesday March 1st 2017, the School of MACE hosted a Mid-placement Seminar for all students on our with Industrial Experience programme. The event saw the return of 8 students currently out on placement, from across all three disciplines of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering.
The University of Manchester is pleased to be hosting the Merlin IT Flies UK 2017 competition for the first time this year. The University and society members look forward to competing and organising the competition alongside Merlin Flight Simulation Group.
The IMechE Design Challenge is an annual competition run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, with the aim of giving engineering students a task to complete which will test their skills throughout every stage of the design process. This year the competition was to design, build and test an accurate line-launcher, with the capacity to have a variable range of operation.
In mid-December, a group of our civil engineering undergraduate students took part in a pilot project designed to enhance the employability of students across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Our graduate, Dr Mehmood Alam, won the prize for his award-winning research investigating the effectiveness of continuing professional development in project management, and impressed the judges by establishing the widely-debated link between investment in project management and the benefits at a corporate level
