Selection process

Formal applications for entry to all undergraduate programmes must be made through UCAS.

When applications are received they are considered carefully, including particularly the Personal Statement and the Academic Reference, by members of the Admissions Team. We look for evidence of commitment and for the ability that will enable an applicant to successfully undertake and complete the programme applied for. Applicants should be studying (or have studied) disciplines at the levels set out in the table of our usual entry requirements. Previous examination performance and likely performance in forthcoming examinations are important.

Conditional and unconditional offers of places on our programmes are usually made to suitably qualified applicants on the basis of information provided on the UCAS form but interviews may be required in some cases to determine whether an offer would be appropriate.

Deferred entry

We are pleased to offer deferred entry for one year to suitably qualified applicants who wish to take a gap year before commencing their university studies. If this is your intention please inform the School Admissions Team as early as possible in the process.

Mature students

We are pleased to receive applications for places on our programmes from mature students. Such applications are treated on their individual merit. We will wish to see evidence that the applicant will be able to cope with the immediate academic demands of our programmes. Applicants may be offered places on programmes with entry through the Foundation Year programme.

Many mature students have been successful on our programmes and have made valuable contributions to studies in the School often because of their maturity and experience.

For informal help and advice on any of the degree courses on offer within the School, please contact a member of the Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Team who will be happy to help in any way they can, answering questions you may have with regard to our courses or on the application process.
