Experience at the University

Why you decided to study Mechanical Engineering?
Mechanical engineering is the most fundamental of all engineering disciplines; allowing once graduated to pursue a career a wide range of sectors. The modules on offer for this course are both interesting and challenging; allowing you to develop your knowledge in a well-respected university.

Experience gained
I took part in the Undergraduate IMeche 2010 design challenge where I worked in a team of 4 to design and make a centrifugal pump which was capable of pumping water up a 2m pipe. It was a very enjoyable experience; which helped improve many of my basic skills; additionally allowing me to meet some interesting people in the engineering sector.

Any difficulties
I didn't have any difficulties; the staffs were extremely helpful and dealt with any queries you had quickly.

School Facilities
Good facilities are provided by the school; e.g. libraries are well stocked with varies books for the same topic allowing the students to choose books which best suit their learning style.

Professional plans for future
I am hoping to enter into a job in the industry immediately after I graduate.

What did I have to receive the shell scholarship?
I achieved the Shell Technical Scholarship by ranking first during the first semester exams in the Mechanical Engineering course (MEng).
