Great Bridgewater Street to G-Mex and the Bridgewater Hall

Now an exhibition centre, G-Mex Centre on Lower Mosley Street was originally Manchester Central railway station. The station operated between 1880-1969 and was converted to its current state in the 1980s.

Standing opposite G-Mex is the magnificent Bridgewater Hall, home to Manchester's very own Halle Orchestra. The main auditorium is supported upon almost 300 'springs' to prevent vibrations from passing trams and road traffic disturbing music performances.
