We accept applications for Postgraduate Research study throughout the year and you may apply up to a year before your intended start date. Our start dates are January, April, July and September. For overseas students we advise that you apply at least three months before you intend to start your studies in the UK in order to allow enough time to process your application and for you to apply for a visa.
Once your application has been assessed by the School you should expect to receive a response after a minimum of three weeks, although in some cases it will be sooner. We will be able to handle your application much more quickly if you ensure that you have included all the supporting documents and up to date contact details.
Once we have received the documents above, your application will then be considered. If you meet our academic entry requirements, your application will then be passed on to the potential supervisor for their consideration. The potential supervisor will then contact you to arrange an interview to further discuss your application. Interviews may be in person or by Skype or telephone.
If your application is successful at this stage, we will contact you to request the following additional information to complete your application:
English Language certification (if applicable) e.g. IELTS greater than or equal to 6.5 (with no sub-test below 5.5).
Two letters of reference provided by people who have knowledge of your academic ability. You must ensure that reference letters are on official letter headed paper and are signed and dated (reference letters older than 1 year will not be accepted).
